NaPoWriMo 4

April 5, 2012

link to NaPoWriMoNaPoWriMo. Not easy to remember.  Trips off my tongue but writing it takes work.  I took part in the Wicked Words open Mic evening at Seven which was great.  There are so many good poets out there, so many poems.  I’m beginning to realise that there are as many poems as there are ways of understanding the world.   I read out a couple of poems including April fool (NaPoWriMo 1, below) and read out an even shorter version of London Tracksuit.  I walked home.  It was cold with some snow still on the ground but there was a beautiful clear night.  The journey was a couple of miles and I like to walk fast, so I stuck on my headphones and put on some disco, which is great for walking, running and dancing to.  Which leads me to today’s poem…

Happy feet

walking home
swinging beat
Hed Kandi disco
striding feet

watching stars
covering ground
Breathing in sync
rhythmic sound

Nearly home
pacing fast
start to dance to the
joyful blast

stranger stares
so I stop
then think ‘Oh fuck it’
and continue to bop.
