NaPoWriMo 16

April 16, 2012

NaPoWriMo websiteTechnology:  I’m still not sure how to make a comment on other people’s work.  This is a shame as now I’m linked in to a growing number of other people’s blogs, I’d like to.  Also I find it ironic that the wordpress spell checker underlines wordpress, blog and blogger.  As an alternative to blogger it offers b logger which I’ve never come across.  Maybe it’s shorthand for an illegitimate logger?

Poem:  I believe I’m fortunate that I haven’t suffered from major traumas that I see on the news.  No Tsunamis, earthquakes, wars, famine or major political upheaval.  I find my difficulties in the mundane.  So if reading this you have suffered from the above you can ignore today’s poem, but if you haven’t, well this is how I feel

It’s nothing, really

we are made old by
the one thousand things
the accretion of banal
chewing gum bonds
that we might wrestle
to escape but stick
and glue
and weld

Their accreted totality
the bonds of the every day
not major
but minor
the everyday
death of a thousand cuts
the weariness of
another set of traffic lights
another packed commuter train
another unsought bill
whipped by one thousand tiny troubles
times ten thousand hurts
until we sag and say
no more
