NaPoWriMo April 7

April 8, 2013

napo2013buttonI’d like to start by saying thank you to all the people that have started following my blog.  I really appreciate it.  In return I am following yours and will make comments either when someone has commented directly to me or when I read something that strikes a particular cord.  There is so much stuff out there, I’d forgotten just how many people blog and the richness and diversity of the topics covered.   For day seven I am continuing a theme of resistance.  Whenever I have to do something I’m not particularly looking forward to, especially if it’s a final deadline, my resistance peaks about ten minutes beforehand.  I can’t see the reward for the resistance to the task.  This poem is about this.  Hope you like it and if you identify with it, share your ten minutes before with me.

10 minutes before

Its the ten minutes before I run,

The ten minutes before I rise from bed,

The ten minutes before I clean,

Its ten minutes that I dread.

Ten minutes before I start to cook,

The ten minutes before I leave for work,

The ten minutes before I iron,

Ten minutes, I wish to shirk.

Ten minutes before kids go to bed,

The ten minutes before I start to write,

Ten minutes before I need to act,

Ten minutes of mental fight.

These ten minutes are the hardest ones

The ten minutes before I need to do.

But when I beat my apathy

My rewards feel good and true
